Founder of motorcycle museum dies

Mr Richards rebuilt the museum after a large fire

The founder of the National Motorcycle Museum has died.

Roy Richards, 77, set about establishing the museum, at Bickenhill near Birmingham, in 1984.

He collected more than 800 machines, the largest collection of British motorcycles in the world, which some 250,000 visitors view annually.

Despite a huge fire in 2003 which destroyed many unique exhibits, Mr Richards rebuilt the museum, which reopened a year later.

He leaves a wife, son and daughter and three step-children.
