Felix Yeboah's father Michael donated a kidney to his son

A 14-year-old boy from Ghana who underwent a life-saving operation at a Birmingham hospital is making a successful recovery, doctors said.

Specialists said Felix Yeboah would have died without the kidney transplant which took place at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Sunday.

Felix's father, Michael, donated the kidney for the operation, funded by charity Transplant Links.

Surgeons and nurses offered their time for free to keep down the costs.

A spokesperson for the hospital said Felix was in a stable condition.

He is expected to stay in hospital for about a week.
