Claims of recycling breakthrough
Unsorted plastic ready for recycling
The firm is keeping the technology a closely guarded secret
A Midlands recycling company claims it has developed new technology which allows it to recycle different types of plastic in one go.

Omnia Recycling, in Wolverhampton, said the secret process could revolutionise the business.

Traditionally different types of plastics have to be recycled separately, resulting in high costs.

The firm said for every tonne of material it brought in, one tonne of recycled plastic was created.

Jason Barker, from the firm, said: "We don't need to segregate it, we don't need to separate it in any way shape or form.

"We take it as it is and make a product directly from it."

Bricks and anvils

Bales of mixed plastic are loaded into a shredder and the torn apart before any rogue items are removed.

The firm said in the past it had found house bricks and anvils hidden among the plastic.

But the remainder of the process is being kept secret.

Mr Barker added: "It's new technology. We're the first people in the world to use this technology and we spent an awful lot of money developing it because we could see the gap in the market.

"We obviously have to be very careful about what we say."
