Presents for the homeless stolen
Store room
The store room was ransacked in the incident
Thieves have made off with Christmas presents set aside for homeless people in a raid at a Methodist centre.

They smashed their way into the store room at the Darlington Street Methodist Centre, which is a refuge for the homeless in Wolverhampton.

Christmas puddings meant for a party were among the items taken.

The city council and the Catholic charity, Little Brothers of the Good Shepherd, have spent weeks collecting presents and food.

Rev Tony Kinch, from Darlington Street Methodist Church, said: "I was flabbergasted and furious."

People have since started to arrive with replacement gifts as news of the incident has spread.
