Memorial fund for Thai death man
Helena Carroll and John Cullen
The couple were one month into a 12-month trip overseas
The family and friends of a man who died in a flash flood in Thailand are setting up a trust fund in his memory.

John Cullen, 24, from Solihull, was one of eight who died during an expedition into a cave. His 21-year-old fiancee, Helena Carroll, was the only survivor.

The John Cullen Memorial Fund is expected to support an elephant sanctuary, a cause the couple backed.

The couple were one month into a year-long overseas trip when they were caught up in the floods.

Six tourists and two Thai guides drowned when the cave in Khao Sok national park flooded on Saturday.

Miss Carroll, also from Solihull, climbed up to a ledge and waited for 16 hours in the dark before being rescued.
