Shane Owoo died as a result of drowning
An earlier attack at a pond where a teenager died could have been filmed and put on the YouTube website.

Detectives investigating the death of 16-year-old Shane Owoo have said a similar incident involving a young boy took place in September.

A murder inquiry was launched after Shane's body was found by divers in the pool in Bickley Road, The Lunt, Bilston, West Midlands, on Sunday.

Police said it appeared Shane was involved in a dispute beforehand.

Five men have been arrested over Shane's death. Three have since been bailed.

Two men, aged 20 and 22, are being questioned over the death of the 16-year-old. A post-mortem examination revealed he died from drowning.
We are asking for witnesses to an earlier incident...where in a similar set of circumstances a young lad may have been forced to get into the pool
Det Supt Mick Treble, West Midlands Police

Det Supt Mick Treble said early indications showed there had been some sort of incident on nearby Boswell Road during Saturday lunchtime.

"It would appear that three men were involved in a dispute with Shane where Shane was assaulted," he said.

He appealed for witnesses to the dispute to come forward.

"It is then believed Shane was taken to the pool in Bickley Road, where it is believed he was made to get into the pool and stay there for a certain amount of time," he continued.

"At this stage it is not known whether he did this willingly or was forced.

Unnamed individual

"We are also asking for witnesses to a much earlier incident, which we believe took place on Sunday, 16 September, where in a similar set of circumstances a young lad may have been forced to get into the pool."

Police said the mobile phone footage could have appeared on the YouTube video sharing website but was not there when they checked.

As well as appealing for witnesses to the earlier dispute with Shane and anyone who may have seen Shane or the other boy in the pool, Det Supt Treble appealed for a certain unnamed individual to come forward.

"We have been talking to his family and friends and are confident he is aware we would like to speak to him."
