The former Fulham defender was detained along with another man at a house in Erdington, Birmingham, on suspicion of drugs offences on Wednesday morning.
He was released on police bail and appeared at a press conference announcing his signing later that day.
The club said it was satisfied with the explanation the Solihull-born 27-year-old had given them.
West Midlands Police confirmed officers had executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs and Firearms Act at an address in Poppy Lane, Erdington.
A 26-year-old man was remanded in custody by magistrates in Sutton Coldfield on Thursday accused of six drug offences.
