Defender arrested before signing
Zat Knight
Zat Knight was arrested hours before signing for the club
Aston Villa footballer Zat Knight was arrested just hours before signing for his new team for 3.5m.

The former Fulham defender was detained along with another man at a house in Erdington, Birmingham, on suspicion of drugs offences on Wednesday morning.

He was released on police bail and appeared at a press conference announcing his signing later that day.

The club said it was satisfied with the explanation the Solihull-born 27-year-old had given them.

West Midlands Police confirmed officers had executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs and Firearms Act at an address in Poppy Lane, Erdington.

A 26-year-old man was remanded in custody by magistrates in Sutton Coldfield on Thursday accused of six drug offences.
