Paramedics warned people to be careful in lakes and pools

Police divers have found two bodies in their search for two teenagers who are feared drowned in separate incidents.

A 19-year-old is missing after four men went into a lake at Brookvale Park, Erdington, Birmingham, on Sunday to save a football but only three got out.

As emergency crews tried to rescue him, they were called to find a 17-year-old youth at The Station Fields, in Pelsall, in the Black Country.

Neither body has yet been officially identified, police said.

West Midlands Ambulance said three men are thought to have gone into water in Pelsall but only two made it out.

'Deceptive undercurrents'

Searches began at both sites on Sunday and resumed on Monday morning.

As well as police divers, helicopters and thermal imaging cameras have been used.

A spokesman said crews were called to Erdington, where the water was waist deep, at 1835 BST on Sunday and the search was called off for the night at 2120 BST.

The three men who got out of the lake were cold and wet and treated at the scene.

"They were extremely shaken and upset by what had happened but did not require hospital treatment," a spokesman added.

Police said one of the bodies was believed to be that of a 19-year-old man from Alum Rock, Birmingham.

Trevor Ford, from West Midlands Ambulance Service, warned other youths about unseen undercurrents when entering pool and lakes at in the hot weather.
