Trains axed over staff shortages
Central Trains
There was a lack of volunteers at the Birmingham depot
Rail passengers across the Midlands face cancellations and disruption on Sunday due to a staff shortage.

Central Trains say it has not had enough volunteers to work from its Birmingham depot, leading to some routes having no service at all.

All trains are cancelled from Birmingham New Street to Wolverhampton, Redditch and Lichfield Trent Valley.

Replacement buses operate from Birmingham to Stansted, Rugeley, Nottingham and Leicester.

Passengers travelling to Cardiff or Liverpool are advised to use other train operators.

A spokesman for Central Trains said Sundays were not part of the staff's working week, and that normally there were plenty of volunteers to cover but not in this instance.

A similar situation happened just before Christmas when Central Trains cancelled most of its Sunday services for the same reason.
