Ozzy on home city's Walk of Stars
Ozzy Osbourne
Ozzy's ceremony takes place on 6 July
Rock legend Ozzy Osbourne will be the first person to be honoured on Birmingham's new Walk of Stars.

He will get his own brass star, similar to those on Hollywood's Walk of Fame, on Broad Street, the city's main entertainment area.

"I have a star in Hollywood but having a star in my home town means so much more to me," the 58-year-old said.

Organiser Gary Taylor hopes other Midlands stars such as Jasper Carrot and Lenny Henry will also be honoured.

He said: "We have some incredibly talented people from Birmingham, together with world-famous acts that regularly perform in this area, and we wanted to start honouring them in a way that shows how proud we are to have them here."

The brass stars will form a pavement trail along Broad Street.

Organisers have named their 12 most wanted stars - they are comedians Jasper Carrot, Lenny Henry and Frank Skinner, TV presenter Cat Deeley, pop stars Duran Duran, Jamelia, Robert Plant and UB40, racing driver Nigel Mansell, conductor Sir Simon Rattle and actress Julie Walters.

Ozzy's induction takes place on the same day, 6 July, as his concert in the city's National Indoor Arena.
