A man is in hospital after suffering a heart attack whilst driving, causing him to collide with another vehicle.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Wheatcroft Road in Stetchford in Birmingham on Saturday evening.
The 45-year-old man, who was in cardiac arrest, was being attended to by a policewoman who was a former nurse, an ambulance spokesman said.
Paramedics continued treatment in the ambulance until his heart started beating again.
Mick Corridan, from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "This man has been very lucky.
"Although he appears to have had a heart attack whilst driving, he has survived the collision, and has been treated very quickly by both the police officer and the paramedics.
"This resulted in a quick and successful resuscitation in the street which will hopefully give him a good chance of making a full recovery."
