Blood workers protest over cuts
Workers from Birmingham's blood service are to protest against plans to close a blood centre with the loss of 140 jobs.

They say lives could be lost if it is closed along with seven other regional units, as there would be no blood processing centre in the Midlands.

Union Unite says the danger comes from transporting blood long distances.

The government wants to centralise work in three centres and the National Blood Service denies patients will be put at risk by the changes.
