Shots have been fired after two unarmed police officers confronted two men in a Birmingham street.
The two officers got into a struggle with the two men when they approached them for acting suspiciously in Kilby Avenue, near Birmingham city centre.
In the struggle a firearm was fired. A man in his 20s has been arrested and a firearm has been recovered from the area which has been sealed off.
Police said they are still looking for the second man.
The officers suffered minor injuries during the struggle but not as a result of the firearm going off, West Midlands Police said.
West Midlands Ambulance service later said it took a man, who was in custody, to hospital with a head injury.
A spokesman said a crew called to Kilby Avenue took a police officer with a hand injury to hospital. A second officer was also treated at the scene of a minor hand injury.
"The crew then returned and took a man who was in custody to hospital with a head injury," he said.
