Man jailed for DJ's manslaughter
Neville Borland
Neville Borland was described as a risk to the public
A man has been jailed for 10 years for stabbing a nightclub DJ to death on a Birmingham street.

Father-of-one Marlvin Jiro, 26, died after being stabbed in the chest in Howard Street, Hockley, on 29 May.

Jamaican Neville Borland, 35, from Milton Street, Newtown, Birmingham, was cleared of murdering Mr Jiro but convicted of his manslaughter.

At a hearing at Birmingham Crown Court the judge in the case recommended he be deported at the end of his sentence.

Mr Jiro was a DJ at the Gems nightclub in the Jewellery Quarter in Hockley in the city.

The court heard that early in the morning on 29 May he left the club and was following another car to a party when he was set upon by three men.

Justice Butterfield said Borland was a violent, dangerous man who was a risk to the public.
