Man remanded over Pc murder bid

A 25-year-old man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a policeman was shot in Wolverhampton.

Pc Geoff King was on plain clothes duty when he was shot twice in the shoulder in Penn Road on Saturday night.

Marcus Bailey, of Merry Hill, West Midlands, was also charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and to resist arrest.

Mr Bailey was remanded into custody at Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court to appear at the city's crown court later.

Pc King, 33, is recovering following surgery on his left shoulder.
