Kim and Aggie clean up dirty town

The cleaning pair warned people not to dirty Dudley

Two TV cleaning stars have swept in to help clean the Black Country.

Kim Woodburn and Aggie MacKenzie, who front several cleaning shows on Channel Four, helped launched the Don't Dirty Dudley campaign on Wednesday.

The pair toured the town with brushes and warned people about litter, including one man discarding a receipt and another dropping cigarette ends.

Aggie said: "It is no dirtier than any other place and I am glad the council are marking sure it gets cleaned up."

They have backed the enforcement team who issue £50 fines to people dropping litter and not picking up after their dog.

£2.3m annual bill

Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for the environment, said: "Kim and Aggie are well known for their no nonsense approach to cleaning.

"They have no time for people who make their homes dirty and as a council we have no time for people who dirty Dudley.

"As an authority we spend over £2.3m cleaning up after people each year and this is money we could be spending on something else."

Since 2002 Dudley Council has issued more than 1,000 fixed penalties for litter, dog fouling and illegally dumping waste.
