Rail commuters face train delays
Rail commuters faced delays getting home on Thursday evening due to a signalling failure affecting trains from the Midlands to Wales.

Network Rail said there were long delays during the rush-hour period with ongoing signalling problems affecting Arriva Trains Wales services.

Although some trains were moving, passengers were warned to expect delays late into the evening.

It affected Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Shropshire trains to Aberyswyth.

The problem caused some trains to be replaced by buses in Wales, and delays were compounded by traffic problems in the Newtown area of Powys and Machynlleth and unrelated signal problems in Shropshire.
