Knife wounds
Detectives revealed the dead man had been out drinking with two friends at the Gem Club in Branston Street, Hockley, on Sunday evening.
The group left the club shortly after 0300 BST on Monday in a blue Mercedes car driven by Mr Jiro.
He stopped the car in Howard Street and after getting out he became involved in a fight with three men during which he was stabbed. The group are described as black and in their twenties.
Mr Jiro was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.
A post mortem examination showed he died from knife wounds to the chest.
Police are appealing for anyone in the club that night, or anyone who was in the area when the attack took place, to contact them.
It is the second high-profile stabbing in the city within several days. A teenager was attacked outside his school on Friday.
Both stabbings have happened during the One Knife, One Life campaign which aims to cut knife crime in the West Midlands.
Some 1,600 bladed weapons have been handed in since the start of the knife amnesty - which has since been rolled out nationally - on 27 March.
The amnesty continues until the end of June.
