Fatal fire treated as suspicious

A house fire which killed a 54-year-old man and injured two others is being treated as suspicious.

The blaze broke out in Birchfield Road in Aston, Birmingham, during the early hours of Thursday morning. The building was badly damaged.

The victim was pronounced dead in hospital, and a post-mortem examination showed he died of smoke inhalation.

A 51-year-old man suffered burns to his hands and face and a 48-year-old was treated for smoke inhalation.
