Man critical after tram accident
Midland Metro
The power supply has been disrupted since the accident
A man has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after he became trapped underneath a tram.

Fire crews were called to the Booth Street stop in the Handsworth area of Birmingham on Tuesday morning.

The area has been cordoned off while they await the arrival of specialist lifting equipment to move the tram.

Phil Bateman from Midland Metro said services between Black Lake, near Wednesbury, and Birmingham have been suspended and the power supply cut off.

Services from Black Lake to Wolverhampton are running in both directions.

The man suffered severe injuries and a police investigation has started, Mr Bateman added.
