Part of a Midlands canal, described as "something of an eyesore" by a council, is to be spruced up.
The Grand Union Canal in Birmingham is used by more than 1,000 boats a year as well as numerous walkers and anglers.
Birmingham City Council and British Waterways are providing £43,000 between them to clean up graffiti in Digbeth.
A spokesman said approaching the city by water should be pleasurable and appealing, but the actions of a few people had made it anything but that.
