Woman in court over girl's murder

A 32-year-old woman has appeared before magistrates charged with the murder of a six-year-old girl.

Claire Kennedy, whose address cannot be published for legal reasons, was remanded in custody to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on 18 May.

West Midlands Police found the girl's body at a maisonette in Heathside Drive, Kings Norton, on Wednesday.

The victim's name was listed on the charge sheet as Courtney Kennedy, Solihull Magistrates' Court confirmed.
