Company in court over man's death
A construction company has been accused of failing to ensure the safety of one of its workers after a 19-year-old was crushed to death in Sutton Coldfield.

Kyle Newell was working for McNicholas Construction Services Ltd when a bundle of steel bars fell and crushed him in February 2003.

Mr Newell, of Bryniau in Denbighshire, north Wales was killed on an excavation site in Green Lane, Wylde Green.

Health and Safety Executive alleges the company failed to ensure his safety.

Mr Newell was working as part of a three man team in an overflow chamber more than five metres below ground level when steel bars fell on him from a height, crushing his chest.

London based McNicholas Construction Services Ltd are due to appear at court in Birmingham on Monday.
