Pensioner hit over head in attack

Leaflets are being handed out by police officers in a bid to find a man who attacked an 89-year-old woman in her Birmingham home.

The woman was hit over the head by a man who broke into her home and stole her purse in Weoley Castle on 27 October.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said her condition had recently deteriorated and she had undergone surgery.

A man has been arrested over the incident and released on police bail.

Officers will be handing out the leaflets in streets in the Bristol Road and Witherford Way area.
