Talks resume over airport strike
Birmingham International Airport
The strike would have grounded flights
Talks resume on Monday between union members and staff at Birmingham International Airport in a bid to avert threatened strike action.

The action proposed for Monday has been called off to allow the talks between Amicus and the airport to continue.

Conciliation service Acas is also involved. Another eight strike days, some during the holiday period, have not been cancelled.

Airport staff agreed to walk out in a row over two dismissed workers.

Amicus represents more than 200 airport staff and says allegations made against the two workers are unfounded.

Other planned strike days include Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Year's Eve.

The airport fire service, engineering, terminals, security and operations would be affected by strike action.
