The strike would have grounded flights

A strike at Birmingham International Airport scheduled for Monday has been called off after 12 hours of talks between management and the unions.
It was the first of nine days of planned action by Amicus. The other eight days, some during the holiday period, have not been cancelled.
The strike, which would have closed the airport, was called off to allow talks through the arbitration service Acas.
Staff agreed to walk out in a row over two dismissed workers.
Other planned strike days include Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Year's Eve.
The airport fire service, engineering, terminals, security and operations would be affected by strike action.
