Horse disappearance investigated
Police are investigating the alleged disappearance of a horse from a racecourse in Wolverhampton.

The Jockey Club say My Bayard was removed from its stable at the racecourse on Saturday night.

The five-year-old is believed to have been taken in a dispute over ownership. The incident was filmed on CCTV.

My Bayard was due to have its first run for trainer John Balding in the Littlewoods Bet Direct Handicap on Friday but was declared a non-runner.

Internal report

Jockey Club public relations director John Maxse said: "A horse was removed from the racecourse stables at Wolverhampton last night (Saturday) and CCTV filmed the incident taking place.

"That footage has been shown to the police and will be handed over to them as part of their inquiries into the incident."

He added the Jockey Club would prepare an internal report but what measures they took as part of the investigation would depend on how far the police took their own inquiries.

West Midlands Police said it could not confirm any further details but said South Yorkshire Police were helping investigate the reported disappearance.
