Man, 70, found hanged at hospital
An investigation is under way after a 70-year-old man was found hanged at Birmingham's City Hospital.

Dennis William Endean, from Winson Green, was discovered in toilets off a general medical ward on Monday evening.

West Midlands Police said they were called to the hospital but were not treating the death as suspicious.

A patients' watchdog said it was "deeply concerned" at the death and had taken the matter up with the hospital's chief executive.

Internal investigation

Jayne Salter-Scott, the chair of the Patient and Public Involvement Forum for Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals, told BBC Radio WM: "We will be as members of the forum discussing with hospital officials the issues of patient care arising out of this tragic incident."

A spokesman for the Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust confirmed the details but would not say why Mr Endean was in hospital.

He also confirmed that an internal investigation was being carried out.

An inquest into Mr Endean's death was opened and adjourned at Birmingham Coroner's Court on Thursday.
