Police on airport Euro fan watch
Police will be patrolling Birmingham International Airport to stop troublemakers travelling to Euro 2004 in Portugal.

Officers will be checking flights at the airport from Wednesday and any suspected troublemakers will be prevented from leaving the country.

People who may be subject to banning orders or those who have records for offences of disorder will be targeted.

A police spokeswoman said offenders would have their passports confiscated.

"Under the Football Disorder Act 2000, anyone who has a relevant conviction caught travelling to the match will have their passport confiscated and will be put before the courts," she said.

"They could then receive a banning order preventing them from travelling to any future matches."
