It is believed the robbers made off with an empty cash box
A man has been taken to hospital following an armed robbery on a cash delivery van in Birmingham.

Police officers were called to Lichfield Road, Sutton Coldfield at 1120 GMT on Thursday.

Robbers targeted a cash delivery van outside HSBC bank, attacked a security guard with a baseball bat and snatched a cash box, which is believed to have been empty.

The security guard was taken to the town's Good Hope Hospital.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said his injuries were not thought to be life threatening.

The area has been sealed off.
