Man stung by bee dies

A Warwickshire man has died 10 days after he had an allergic reaction to a bee sting.

Graham Williamson, 47, who never regained consciousness after he was stung in his back garden in Hampton-in-Arden, died over the weekend.

The father-of-three, a computer company director, was mowing the lawn when he was stung on the foot.

Mr Williamson's wife desperately tried to resuscitate him after he collapsed and stopped breathing.

Staff at Solihull Hospital, where Mr Williamson was treated, said he was allergic to stings and suffered an anaphylactic shock.

They said it was unlikely the 47-year-old knew he was allergic to bee stings because he did not have the treatment to hand that could have saved his life.

Flags were flying at half mast on Monday at Edgbaston cricket ground in Birmingham where Mr Williamson was a committee member of Warwickshire County Cricket Club.
