Sunderland girl dies after being knocked off bicycle

An 11-year-old girl has died after coming off her bicycle in a crash in Sunderland.

Katelyn Weldon was in collision with a Vauxhall Vectra at the junction with Blackwood Road and Washington Road in Town End Farm on Saturday evening.

The girl is from the local area, said police.

Accident investigators have been at the scene, and the Northumbria force is appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
