Police have seized cannabis with an estimated street value of £700,000 from a house in Sunderland.

Officers acting on a tip-off found the 700 plants at a property in Thornhill Terrace.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said two men had been arrested following the discovery of the cannabis plants on Friday.

The men are currently in custody being questioned by detectives about the illegal drugs.
