Officer hurt in police car crash

A Durham Police officer was taken to hospital after his patrol car crashed.

The marked Vauxhall Astra was responding to an incident when it was involved in a collision with two parked cars on the A177 in Shincliffe Village.

No details have been released about the condition of the officer, who is being treated at the University Hospital of North Durham.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash, near the Seven Stars public house at 2345 GMT on Wednesday.
