Robbers imprison man in own home

Two men pretending to deliver a parcel attacked an elderly man, tied him up and ransacked his bungalow in Durham.

The offenders pushed the 65-year-old over when he opened the door to his house in Broomhall Drive, Broom Park, and tied him up in the living room.

They searched his house, stole cash and two wrist watches and fled, leaving him in the garage on Friday.

He managed to escape and went to a neighbour's home to call the police - he was not injured.

Det Sgt Tony Dumigan, of Durham Police, said: "When the robbers approached the householder they intimated that they were delivering a parcel.

"They were wearing dark clothing and balaclavas, but one of them also had a fluorescent jacket on, anyone with information should come forward."
