Charges follow dawn drugs raids

Twelve people have been charged with drugs offences after a series of raids by police in County Durham.

Officers made a number of arrests during the operation which targeted the homes of suspected drug dealers in the Seaham area early on Wednesday.

Four people have been charged with conspiracy to supply drugs and eight people face charges concerned in the supply of drugs or supplying drugs.

They are due to appear at Peterlee Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

The raids were part of Operation Nimrod by Durham Police, an ongoing initiative targeting suspected drug dealers across the county.
