Six are charged after dawn raids

Police have charged six people with theft and drugs offences following a series of raids across Sunderland.

A total of 18 people were arrested at a number of addresses in the Hendon area of the city on Thursday.

The raids came after an intelligence-led operation involving more than 160 officers to target burglary and drugs offences.

The six people charged will appear at Sunderland Magistrates' Court on 29 October, police said.
