Boy robbed for chips at gunpoint

A teenager has been threatened with an air rifle by a youth who demanded his takeaway food in County Durham.

The boy had bought chips on the Parade at Arcadia in Ouston, Chester-le-Street when the youth held a gun to his face.

After handing over his chips, the 17-year-old victim walked away, but then heard the weapon discharge and felt a projectile skim past his hand.

The attacker is white, aged about 17, of medium build and 5ft 9in (1.8m) tall with a local accent.

A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: "Although the item of value stolen makes the robbery seem less than other offences of its kind, it has nonetheless left the victim shocked."

Anyone with information about the robbery on Saturday should contact police.
