Pub landlord robbed at gunpoint

A motorcyclist has robbed a pub landlord at gunpoint in County Durham.

Police said the raider, wearing his motorcycle helmet, calmly walked into the isolated Knitsley Mill pub, near Consett, on Monday morning.

He fled with a "significant" amount of cash after threatening the publican with the handgun. No shots were fired and no-one was injured.

A police spokesman said the robber escaped the scene on his motorbike, possibly in the direction of Consett.
