Man denies city nightspot killing

A man has denied killing a teenager outside a Sunderland nightspot.

Ryan Hyden, 19, sustained head injuries when he was assaulted near Idols bar on High Street West, early on 24 March.

He was initially taken to the city's Royal Hospital for treatment, then transferred to Newcastle General, where he later died.

Joseph Dixon, 20, of Portchester Road, Pennywell, denied manslaughter and was bailed to face trial at Newcastle Crown Court on 20 October.
