Teenager inured in fire explosion

A teenager is being treated for burns to his face and hands after an accelerant was thrown into a fire.

Fire crews were called to Lyndhurst Terrace in Pallion, Sunderland, after reports youths had started a fire at the back of a disused industrial unit.

Police said the boy was injured in an explosion and is being treated in Newcastle General Hospital, where his condition is comfortable.

Two youths have been arrested and bailed in connection with the incident.
