Teenager grabbed by man in woods

A man tried to grab a teenage girl as she walked her dogs in woods in County Durham, police said.

The 16-year-old was walking with her two spaniels along a track near Piney Woods, Stanley, when the man grabbed at her from behind on Tuesday afternoon.

He was partially undressed and committed a lewd act as she evaded his grasp and fled.

The man is white and short, and was wearing a black baseball cap with a black scarf over his head and face.

He also wore a grey or blue padded jacket and dark corduroy trousers.

Pc Alex Armstrong, of Durham Police, said; "Not surprisingly the victim was left very distressed by the incident.

"Although this man was trying to disguise his identity, we hope someone will recognise the description."

The incident happened at about 1600 BST.
