Armed robbers target betting shop
Two men armed with a knife and hammer threatened staff in a betting shop in Sunderland before making off with cash.

The robbery happened on Wednesday evening when the men targeted the bookmakers in Rawmarsh Road.

Northumbria Police said the robbers were dressed in dark clothes and wearing balaclavas.

Two members of staff were left shocked by their ordeal, but uninjured. Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
