Cars damaged during petrol thefts
Determined thieves who stole petrol from parked cars are being sought by police in County Durham.

A Vauxhall Vectra and a Renault Megane on Auckland Terrace in Shildon had holes drilled in the undersides of their petrol tanks during the incident.

Police said it was potentially dangerous as the thieves were underneath the cars and would have been at risk if the fuel had caught light.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Durham Police.

In a third incident on the same street on Tuesday night, a transit van had its window smashed and catalogues and pens stolen.
