Stun gun used on firearm suspect
Police in Sunderland used a stun gun to incapacitate a man suspected of having a firearm.

Northumbria Police's armed response unit was called to the bail hostel on Tatham Street on Friday night following reports of a disturbance.

An officer discharged the Taser device, which delivers a 50,000-volt shock, in order to restrain the 44-year-old man.

He was then arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm, though no weapon has yet been found.
