Church fire treated as suspicious
Police are investigating what they describe as a suspicious fire at a church in County Durham.

Fire crews were called to the blaze at St Nicholas Church, on Front Street, Hetton-le-Hole, on Saturday night.

The church, which has been decommissioned but is a listed building of architectural significance, was completely destroyed.

Northumbria Police are looking into the cause of the fire and have asked anyone with information to contact them.
