The cathedral and castle became a World Heritage Site in 1986

Proposals for the future of Durham Cathedral and Castle World Heritage Site are to go before the public.
A draft management plan has been drawn up to protect the buildings which date back to Norman times.
The best way to maximise the site's potential for visitors and users is also considered.
A display will tour the area for three months, starting at Durham Cathedral itself on Wednesday.
John Holmes, director of regeneration and tourism at One NorthEast, said: ''This is a fantastic opportunity for the people of Durham to have their say on the future of the site.
"It is the jewel in the city's crown and will be a key part of the newly formed Durham Area Tourism Partnership's efforts to promote the area."
