Young actors at a County Durham arts college will take to the stage in front of their most distinguished critic.
Members of the Bishop Auckland Theatre Hooligans will perform for HRH Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, on Friday.
He will view students' work, watch a dance presentation and unveil a plaque to commemorate his visit.
The drama group, which is part of King James I Community Arts College in Bishop Auckland, has gained national and international recognition.
Earlier in the day, the prince will visit Aycliffe Young People's Centre to officially launch the County Durham Young People's Service.
The service, a multi-agency partnership, carries out the county council's responsibility towards young people who have been looked after.
