Man dies after gun club shooting
A man has died after being shot in the head at a gun club in Sunderland.

The 52-year-old was found with a single gun shot wound to the head in a cubicle at the Mayfair Buildings gun club, on Durham Road, at 1430 BST on Friday.

The man, a member of the gun club, was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital where he died later from his injuries.

A post-mortem examination was carried out by a Home Office pathologist on Friday night but police say the death is not being treated as suspicious.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said an investigation would now focus on the circumstances behind the death.

Paul O'Connor, who was at the club when the incident happened, said: "The ambulance pulled up here and I saw the paramedics run into the club and they came back out with him on a stretcher."

Police said the man would be identified once relatives have been informed.
