A man has been rescued after becoming trapped in a mine more than 800ft underground in County Durham.
Fire crews were called to Rogerley Quarry, on the A689 between Stanhope and Frosterley at about 1600 BST on Sunday.
A fire service spokesman said the 64-year-old American became trapped following a rock fall.
The site is a privately-owned mineral mine, used by enthusiasts to collect crystals for jewellery.
The man suffered injuries to his pelvis, and was brought to the surface by Durham firefighters and fell rescuers, and airlifted to hospital.
